Funds increased for
camp waste removal
The City Council has authorized more money for a contractor to dispose of trash and debris at camps of homeless people.
The city approved a contract with Foege Schuman Global Disaster Solutions LLC last October for up to $75,000 in services, according to a staff report by Mel Burnette, a city analyst. The funds have been spent, and the city has amended the agreement to add another $75,000.
The contract expires at the end of the fiscal year on June 30. The city plans to issue a request for proposals for services in the 2025-2026 fiscal year, Burnette wrote.

City approves plans
for volleyball courts
The City Council has approved project plans for two sand volleyball courts at Bayfront Park.
The city hired John George Landscape Architects in January to produce the design, according to a staff report by Mari Swim, a city project manager.
The estimated project cost is $295,000. The city will use about $178,000 from a Proposition 68 grant awarded to the Parks and Recreation Department. Another $117,000 is from community fundraising, and $5,700 will come from the city’s Measure A parks funds.
On Monday, the council authorized the city manager to execute a contract with the lowest qualified bidder. The city plans to advertise for bidders for about 21 days, Swim wrote.
