'Governor Hot Wheels': Rising Left-Wing Star Jasmine Crockett Mocks Disabled Texas Governor
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D., Texas) called Greg Abbott (R.)—Texas’s wheelchair-bound chief executive—"Governor Hot Wheels" during a Saturday speech at a Human Rights Campaign event.
"We in these hot ass Texas streets, honey. Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there. Come on now! And the only thing hot about him is that he's a hot-ass mess, honey! Yes, yes, yes, yes!" Crockett said to applause.
Abbott became paralyzed from the waist down after suffering an accident during law school. While on a run in 1984, an oak tree snapped and fell on the future Texas governor, breaking his back and injuring internal organs.
Crockett delivered her remarks during the 2025 Human Rights Campaign Los Angeles Dinner, a fundraising and promotional event for the LGBT organization. She foreshadowed her insult at the top of her speech.
"Listen, if you’ve ever paid any attention to me, y’all know that I always have remarks and something else happens. And so we’re going to do just a couple of remarks, and then something else is going to happen," Crockett said. "Y’all just pray for me because who knows what I’m going to end up saying."
Crockett’s rhetoric toward Republicans has become increasingly aggressive in recent weeks. On Monday, she said Democrats need to be "O.K. with punching" if they want to win their elections.
"The reality is we're dealing with an administration that is lawless and disrespectful and so the idea that we're still going to be nice and friendly and kind and try to look for some sense of normalcy when we're literally living in a time that is anything but normal. I think that we've got to get comfortable with letting our hair down a little bit," Crockett told NBC 5's Phil Prazan and Dallas Morning News’s Gromer Jeffers.
