Huge three points as Bay beat Holywell
GOALS at the end of each half gave Colwyn Bay a 2-0 win and a huge three points away to third-in-the-table and defending champions Holywell Town.
Dan Atkins and Jamie Cumming were the scorers in a game in which Holywell had most of the play but found the Bay defence in defiant mood as the Seagulls opened a four point lead at the top of the JD Cymru North table and keeps the League title very much in their own hands.
Holywell had the better of the first half after Jamie Cumming had hit the bar with a shot from 20 yards, and it was somewhat against the run of play that Colwyn Bay took the lead on 44 minutes with a clinical finish by Dan Atkins after a long throw by Cumming had caused confusion in the Holywell defence.
In the second half home keeper Shaun Pearson saved a deflected shot by Jamie Cumming, but Holywell again pressed hard for an equaliser, only for the Bay to seal the points in the 90th minute with a super header by Cumming from a free kick.
