Heather Rae El Moussa Had a Hint About Christina Haack’s ‘Struggles’ With Josh Hall
The very dramatic first season of The Flip Off is over, but the dust still hasn’t settled. Heather Rae El Moussa is revealing how she and husband Tarek El Moussa had a hint that things weren’t going so well in Christina Haack’s marriage to Josh Hall ahead of their on-camera implosion.
Their breakup impacted the filming of the HGTV show, but it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing in the end. The El Moussas and Haack, who used to be married to Tarek and share two children, Taylor, 14, and Brayden, 9, are closer than ever after the blow-up on the show. Perhaps the uncomfortable moment was exactly what the blended family needed in the end.
What happened to Christina Haack and Josh Hall?
Haack married Hall on Oct. 6, 2021, a date they kept private until their 2024 divorce. In April 2022, they confirmed their marriage publicly, and the relationship appeared to be everything Haack wanted after two rocky marriages to Tarek and Ant Anstead. Haack and Hall were a united front as he made appearances on Christina in the Country and signed up to co-star with her on The Flip Off.
In July 2024, Hall surprised fans when he filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences.” This breakup played out during the first episode of the home renovation competition series as cameras were rolling. “This is a competition. We gotta pull out all stops,” Hall said in a scene. “Whatever it takes to win, I’ll do it. Halls rule!”
Haack gave her then-husband the silent treatment, so he pressed on. “You’re supposed to say it with me, or repeat it, or something that shows that you’re with me. “Remember, you’re a Hall now. Don’t get confused in this competition about what your last name is,” he added. That aggressive tone was uncomfortable for viewers to watch and within a day, the couple was dunzo.
What the El Moussas saw
Heather told Realtor.com that she and her husband “knew about some of the struggles that were happening before everything unfolded,” but they didn’t know how bad it was. “We kind of knew something was coming, but we didn’t know how soon,” she shared. “We didn’t know when it [was happening, so] we are very much like, ‘Oh wow,’ but we knew there had been issues.”
Still, the former Selling Sunset star thinks that Hall’s exit from the show and Haack’s life was for the better. “You definitely see some tension between them on camera and I would say like, after he left the show, [Christina] was much lighter. It seemed like she was happier, and it made the show a lot more fun,” Heather continued. “Whereas when he was involved, there was a lot more smack talking; and I know that she wasn’t enjoying filming with him.”
The turmoil only brought everyone together and Heather has given Haack’s new beau, Christopher Larocca, her stamp of approval. The happier situation only makes things better for their co-parenting situation too. Hall is nothing but a distant memory for The Flip Off trio, they are moving forward without him.
