'Seriously?' GOP torched for debating walk-in freezers amid Trump's 'turmoil'
Rep. Joe Neguse (D-CO) on Tuesday did not hold back when it came to showing contempt for his Republican colleagues pushing what he described as frivolous legislation during a time of economic uncertainty.
While taking to the floor of the House of Representatives, Neguse slammed the GOP for ignoring news about billionaire Elon Musk hindering key functions of the Social Security Administration to instead focus on bills regulating walk-in freezers.
"Not withstanding all the economic turmoil, the conflicts across the globe, the various ways in which this administration is making life harder for the people of Colorado... notwithstanding all of the challenges our country is grappling with, House Republicans have decided to spend this week debating... walk-in freezers, commercial refrigerators, and giving new responsibilities to a department, the Department of Education, that they are seeking to dismantle!" he exclaimed.

Neguse pointed out that none of these bills meet American voters' pressing economic concerns at the moment.
"I suspect that the folks who are watching this debate, Mr. Speaker, would agree with me that there are better things for us to spend our time on here in Washington D.C. than debating walk-in refrigerators!" he said. "Seriously?! For me, I can tell you, I just spent a week in Colorado, in the rural communities that I represent, hosting town halls, visiting with folks in my community, my constituents. Ranchers, farmers, teachers, working families... And at those town halls, you know the one subject that no one brought up? Commercial refrigerators."
