Hampton Bays homeowner finds grenade while cleaning backyard: police
HAMPTON BAYS, Long Island (PIX11) -- A grenade was found in the backyard of a residence in Hampton Bays Tuesday morning, the Southampton Town Police announced.
The grenade was reported around 10:30 a.m. at a home in the area of Argonne Road East.
Police say the homeowner discovered it while cleaning the yard. Responding officers assisted with the disposal of the grenade and deemed that there was no risk of an explosion.
Southampton Town Police encourage residents to contact law enforcement if they find something they are unsure of.
