SAS Who Dares Wins’ celebrities heading to terrifying new territory ‘deemed too dangerous for Netflix’

SAS: Who Dares Wins is out to prove it is the toughest show on telly by plunging the next batch of celebrities into one of the world’s most dangerous regions.

The next series of the Channel 4 challenge show will head to a jungle in South America, with Panama, Ecuador and Costa Rica the likeliest destinations.

It is a cheeky move because former SAS soldier Bear Grylls and co-host Holly Willoughby filmed their Netflix challenge show, Celebrity Bear Hunt, in the same area — but are set to quit the region for series two amid drug gang fears.

A TV source said: “Nothing establishes SAS: Who Dares Wins as the big daddy of adventure telly like basing the next challenge in South America.

“Especially when Netflix seems to be upping sticks from Costa Rica for Bear Hunt.

“The thing bosses love about the continent is the risk factors are extreme and everywhere.

“The celebs will need to dodge anacondas in the river and disease-infested mosquitoes.

“And they could even be poisoned by seemingly harmless vegetation just by touching it.

“The next round of celebrities will have their work cut out just surviving in the environment before they’ve even attempted an SAS challenge.”

The future of the long-running series seemed to be hanging in the balance when C4 axed the civilian version in 2023.

The seventh series of the celebrity instalment was filmed last summer in Wales, with contestants including ex-footballer Troy Deeney, singer Lucy Spraggan and Strictly’s Tasha Ghouri.

It is due to air this year.

The sixth series was set in New Zealand and aired last year.

Featuring Towie’s Georgia Harrison, who went on to win it, and former England rugby player Chris Robshaw, it was well-received by viewers, which has inspired bosses to go big for series eight.

Let’s hope the new lot pack their bug spray.

Gladiators Superfan Lettie, 5, meets Diamond

Fans of the Gladiators threw down the gauntlet as they battled to meet the stars of the BBC One series at Kent’s Bluewater shopping centre over the weekend.

The athletes were swamped as more than 7,000 supporters turned up for the meet-and-greet, with kids and parents queuing for hours to pose for a photo.

The action-packed event and immersive experience also featured an inflatable duelling pit for youngsters to try their hand using miniature versions of the show’s famous pugil sticks.

Gladiators Nitro, Legend, Electro, Comet, Phantom, Sabre, Bionic, Steel, Hammer and Diamond were there meeting fans before getting stuck in with some events.

The event comes ahead of the show’s second semi-final, which airs on Saturday, April 5, at 5.50pm, with the final on April 12.

Archie enemy in paradise

Archie Hughes is back to stir trouble for Martha and Humphrey in Beyond Paradise

He’s the character fans love to hate, and it looks like Martha Llyoyd’s ex, Archie Hughes, is back to get in the way of her relationship with Di Humphrey Goodman in the new series of Beyond Paradise.

Archie, played by Jamie Bamber, last popped up in the show’s debut series, helping Martha (Sally Bretton) launch her new restaurant.

But he then tried to kiss his ex, resulting in a very public brawl with Humphrey (Kris Marshall).

The last series saw Martha and Humphrey celebrate their wedding day, while not actually getting married – with the Di slipping a wedding ring on to his fiancée’s finger after their long struggle with Ivf.

But the relationship looks to be in trouble with Archie’s comeback as the series returns for a third run on BBC One on Friday at 8pm.

A show insider teased: “Archie quite literally gets in the middle of Humphrey and Martha.”

Ashley Cain discovers he’s not as tough as he thinks on his new BBC Three show Into The Danger Zone.

He explores extreme criminality in the series, which airs from April 1 at 9pm.

He said: “You will see me looking absolutely terrified. Turns out I’m not as fearless as I thought.”

Honey, I spy sexy thriller

An Mi6 agent drawn into a dysfunctional love triangle will be at the heart of a steamy new BBC drama.

The series, titled Honey, comes from the makers of award-winning spy thriller series Killing Eve.

It will dive into 1980s Berlin to explore a shadowy world of counter-espionage.

Main character Marta, a deep undercover agent, will battle to avoid detection by spy boss Friedrich Bauman – the same man she finds herself caught in a ménage à trois with, alongside a reckless, arrogant and attractive Cia operative.

A synopsis teases: “The risk of being garrotted or incarcerated is nothing compared to the horrifying ordeal of falling in love – Marta would rather have her fingernails ripped off.”

The six episodes will air on BBC One and iPlayer.

Four new true-crime series are coming to Sky.

Murder In The Park investigates the killings of Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman; Who Killed Goldfinger? looks into the death of John Palmer; The Girl Who Caught A Killer investigates the kidnapping of Rachel Watts and Amsterdam Narcos.

Bake off poignant for Kate

Kate Garraway’s Bake Off appearance was emotional as cancer has deeply affected her family[/caption]

Appearing on The Great British Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer was emotional for Kate Garraway – as the disease impacted her family and claimed a good pal’s life.

The tv presenter told me: “I don’t think there’s a family that hasn’t been touched by cancer in some way. My grandmothers, my grandfather, and my aunt all had cancer.

“One of my closest friends since the day I was born lost her life to cancer three years ago – when she passed away having fought for so long, it was devastating.

“Anything we can do to make cancer treatment help people live as long as possible, and as well as possible, is just so important.”

Kate’s episode airs at 7.40pm on Sunday on Channel 4.
