Isabela Merced Does Dark Glamour in Super-Tall Black Jimmy Choo Platform Heels for ‘The Last of Us’ Premiere
Isabela Merced celebrated the return of “The Last of Us” on Monday. The actress plays the role of Dina on the beloved HBO original. Last night, she was on hand at the premiere for the highly anticipated second season of the fan-favorite series.
For the debut, Merced went dark. She wore a strapless gown from Ashi Studio featuring a silver bodice and lace trim at the bust. The dress also featured a hip-high slit up one side. She paired it with a black choker, a dark, lined smoky eye as well as gelled back hair.
On foot, Merced opted for a celebrity staple: the Jimmy Choo Max platform stiletto. The open-toe style was made of black satin. The shoe is also a sandal with an ankle strap for security. It is most notable for its stiletto heel, which measures almost six inches. This is made possible by way of its thick platform and the front of the foot that measures 1.25 inches.
While platforms can be used as an aesthetic flare, they also provide an important functional aspect for stilettos: a platform can provide extra height while not increasing the pitch of a shoe. In addition, for smaller sized feet, platforms can provide heights that are otherwise unobtainable.
The Jimmy Choo Max doesn’t appear to be sold by the company any longer, though the label has previously had it in a variety of styles including suede and satin. Some retailers, like MyTheresa, still have styles available on Final Sale, indicating the brand is likely phasing the style out.
The sandal has gotten quite a bit of play with celebrities. Names like Zendaya, Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lopez, Anya Taylor-Joy, Kate Hudson and Becky G have worn them. Becky G was the most recent, wearing them on stage at the 2025 Premio Lo Nuestro awards in Miami where she picked up Mariachi/Ranchera Song of the Year with Leonardo Aguilar and Angela Aguilar. She had previously worn the shoes to the 2024 Latin Grammy Awards and 2022 Billboard Music Awards.
Jimmy Choo is a red carpet staple and favorite of both celebrities and royalty. It had some of its first major successes in dancing Princess Diana. Since then, generation after generation, the footwear designer has dressed A-listers and punctured pop culture with mentions on projects like “Sex in the City.” Sandra Choi, the niece of founder Jimmy Choo, remains as the creative director of the company. She has worked there since 1989. Chloe Sevigny is the face of the label’s latest campaign.
