Man charged with raping 79-year-old woman in Jennings

JENNINGS, La. (KLFY) -- A man was arrested in Jennings for allegedly raping a 79-year-old woman on Saturday, authorities said.
Christopher "Elmo" Istre, 39, was arrested and charged for first degree rape and sexual battery of the infirm, authorities said.
According to authorities, they said they were dispatched to the 500 block of Merry Street in reference to a rape of a 79-year-old woman who was dragged into a the bathroom of a house and sexually assaulted.
After the assault, officers said they then located Istre walking south on LA. 26 near the park of I-10 park.
Istre was then transported to the Jennings Police Department for questioning and later arrested and booked into the Jeff Davis Parish Jail, authorities said.
No bond information has been released.
