New start-up airline launches tickets for first-ever flights from the UK this summer
GLOBAL Airlines is launching flights from two UK airports to New York later this year, with a VIP pre-sale access for seats underway.
Founded by passionate traveller James Asquith back in 2021, the start-up airline is ready to launch flights from Manchester and Glasgow in May.
Global Airlines is launching a VIP pre-sale to give passengers the chance to reserve seats on its inaugural flights.
The private pre-sale will allow passengers to book tickets 24 hours before they go on general sale.
Passengers who want to book a flight should visit the airline’s website, ga.flights.
Its first flight will depart Glasgow on May 15 before returning back from New York on May 19.
The airline’s Manchester service will leave on May 21, returning to the UK from New York on May 25.
Global Airlines has partnered with Portuguese charter airline Hi Fly to run these flights.
The start-up airline acquired at least five Airbus A380s throughout 2023, with the airline purchasing its own aircraft in 2024.
Its Airbus A380, a double-decker jet praised by aviation enthusiasts, will be the airline’s flagship aircraft.
Global Airlines believes it will become the first new airline to own one of the superjumbos in eight years.
The large majority of A380s were put into storage during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new airline, which has previously promised to provide cheap long-haul flights, hopes to transport passengers back to the golden age of flying.
Its founder, James Asquith, wants passengers to ‘feel a million dollars‘ when flying on their planes.
Asquith previously told the Times: “People are sick and tired of the service they get on current airlines. We will be better.“
In previous years, the airline founder promised a luxurious in-flight experience, with better food and drink served onboard.
It will also provide limited-edition amenity kits to all passengers, regardless of cabin class.
The airline is slated to serve Laurent-Perrier champagne, even for those flying in economy.
Global Airlines reportedly scrapped its premium economy seats last year.
The entrepaneur told Aviation Source News: “I’ve always been very much against having a Premium Economy cabin.
“I think it only financially benefits airlines most of the time. It’s great because it acts as a barrier for them between upgrades from economy to business. It’s not good for the passenger, however.”
The airline was slated to launch flights last year but was forced to delay operations until 2025 because its aircraft was not ready.
Details, such as ticket prices and the inside of the aircraft, have yet to be revealed.
