80-year-old motorcyclist seriously injured in Topeka
TOPEKA (KSNT) - On Monday, an 80-year-old motorcyclist from Topeka was seriously injured after being hit by a pickup truck while driving on I470.
At 2:30 p.m., a 46-year-old man was driving a Ford F150 east on I470 in the right lane. The 80-year-old man was driving a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle east in the left lane. The 46-year-old was trying to turn into the median to make a U-turn and hit the motorcycle, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP).
The 46-year-old had no injuries. The 80-year-old man was taken to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. It was unknown if he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the KHP.
