Amorim prepared to sign 25yo winger with 24 G/A, £50m clause in his contract
Manchester United have had a disappointing Premier League campaign, and they could finish in the bottom half of the table.
This could pave the way for a big summer spending spree. A marquee centre-forward could be prioritised, with only 37 goals scored from 29 games.
Manager Ruben Amorim may also want another winger, and Record claim that the 40-year-old tactician plans to bring Francisco Trincao from Sporting CP.
The Portuguese publication highlight the recent speculation linking Trincao with United and follow up to provide their own information on the talented ace.
Trincao’s deal with Sporting CP expires in June next year, as per Transfermarkt, but Record report that the 25-year-old is contracted until the summer of 2027.
There is a £50 million release clause in his contract, but Barcelona have the option to re-sign him for £17-21m as well as a 50 percent future sell-on clause.
United may need to pay a premium fee for Trincao
Trincao has been brilliant for Sporting CP since his move from Barcelona, initially on a season-long loan.
Amorim played a key part in bringing him to Lisbon. The winger has had a fabulous campaign with nine goals and 15 assists from 43 appearances in all competitions.
He has yet to become a mainstay with Portugal but made a huge mark against Denmark. He scored two goals as a substitute to help his country progress to the Nations League semi-final.
Trincao’s stock is definitely on the rise, and United may need to pay a premium fee to sign him.
Barcelona have the option to bring him back, but the Catalan giants could accept a significant profit instead, considering their Financial Fair Play issues with La Liga.
United are unlikely to meet Trincao’s release clause but could be willing to pay around £35-40m for the winger, who seems to be entering the prime of his playing career.
Trincao played as the right winger or right-sided number 10 in Amorim’s 3-4-3 set-up at Sporting.
He could occupy a similar role at the Red Devils. Amad Diallo could become a regular starter from right wing-back when fit. Amorim prefers an attacking option in the position.
