Man arrested after activating stun gun at Berkeley Tesla protest
BERKELEY – A suspect was arrested Saturday after activating a stun gun during a protest in front of a Tesla dealership, according to authorities with the Berkeley Police Department.
On early afternoon Saturday, March 22, around 175 protesters gathered at the 4th Street Tesla Dealership in Berkeley as part of a growing number of protests against Elon Musk and his actions.
The suspect, 33, described as the lone counter protester by authorities, approached the crowd on a bicycle, when several protesters blocked his path. He engaged in a confrontation with multiple protesters, and in the course of the altercation, he brandished a stun gun and activated it. Upon hearing the stun gun turn on, a nearby officer who was monitoring the protest intervened and arrested the subject. No one was struck by the stun gun.
The subject was booked at the Berkeley Police Department and is awaiting charges from the District Attorney.
