Nike Is Releasing This Premium Dunk Sneaker This Holiday Season
From Halloween to Valentine’s Day, sneaker fans are well-accustomed to holiday-themed styles at this point. This year, Nike SB is getting in on the fun with a premium Dunk Low that channels a Christmas folklore tradition.
Early images shared by Belgian Nike SB collector @sbheadsbe show a detailed look at the upcoming Nike SB Dunk Low “Krampus.” The highly detailed premium sneakers get their nickname from the fictional Christmas creature known to haunt badly behaved children.
Although the theme is somewhat discreet, an inner tongue label reading “not surprised” also depicts the St. Nicholas counterpart and the bundle of birch rods he’s known to carry. The demonic monster’s features also appear on the right insole.
Far from a standard Nike SB Dunk Low release, this “Krampus” pair is decked out in special materials including a black cracked leather upper which appears as if it may chip away to reveal orange underneath. The scaly cracked texture is also printed on the midsole, while the SB Dunk Low’s puffy tongue gets a woven texture.
This isn’t the first time Nike SB has referenced Krampus on a sneaker. In 2012, the brand issued a black-and-red “Krampus” SB Dunk High which featured fur details and also made use of cracked leather.
Recent holiday-themed Nike releases of note include its Valentine’s Day “It’s Not Me, It’s You” Air Max 1s and several Christmas-timed signature basketball sneakers.
Given their black-and-orange appearance, there was early speculation that this pair could be a Halloween release, but it seems far more likely that it will arrive during the holiday season. With a SKU of HV1668-001 and a full colorway of “Dark Smoke Gray/Campfire Orange/Black/Cinnamon/Picante Red,” readers can expect the Nike SB Dunk Low “Krampus” to arrive sometime in December. This story will be updated with new developments.
