Okotoks, AB – Ryden Evers had four points, including a pair of goals, as the Penticton Vees shutout the Okotoks Oilers 4-0, Saturday night at Viking Rentals Centre Saturday night.
The win was the Vees’ sixth in a row and extended their point streak to 12 games (10-0-2-0). Penticton is now one point away from clinching the BCHL’s Ron Boileau Trophy as regular season champions.
Saturday very well could have been a playoff preview, as the Oilers sit eighth and need one point in their final two games to clinch the final playoff spot in the Interior Conference.
Evers, along with Louie Wehmann and Oscar Pantzare scored in the win. Evers scored the Vees’ first two goals in the first and second periods respectively. Wehmann and Pantzare scored in the third.
Will Ingemann recorded his second shutout of the season and eighth of his career, as he stopped all 11 shots fired his way. With the win, Ingemann set a new career high for wins in a season at 23.
Evers opened the scoring on the power play 14 minutes into the first period with his 23rd goal. Caton Ryan threaded the needle to Evers on a cross-ice pass that he tipped in on his backhand. His 23rd of the season had the Vees up 1-0 after 20 minutes.
In the second, Evers picked up where he left off in first, as he scored just 57 seconds into the period to put the Vees up by two. Just like his first goal, Evers scored on a net front deflection. Matthew Biotti fired a pass from the point down to the far post to Evers who was parked out front. His 24th put Penticton up 2-0 inside the first minute of the second.

Wehmann extended the lead to 3-0 five minutes into the third on a great solo effort. The Minnesota product won a race to the puck on the right wing, then made a power move to the net, before tucking the puck in on the far side. His 14th on the campaign.
Pantzare put the finishing touches on the win by scoring his first goal as a Vee at 8:31 of the third. A rebound came out to the slot to Pantzare who fired a dart over the goalie’s blocker for his fifth goal and first since joining the Vees from the Victoria Grizzlies.
Penticton held the Oilers to just 11 shots, which is a season low for Okotoks. The Vees finished with a 3-0-1-0 record against the Oilers this season.
