Pedestrian fatally struck by vehicle in Lafayette Parish
OSSUN, La. (KLFY) -- A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle early Friday morning on LA. 98 near Mills Street in Lafayette Parish, authorities said.
The crashed claimed the life of Mark Darsey, 65, of Houma, early on Friday at 7 a.m., authorities said.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Darsey exited his vehicle and walked into the eastbound lane of LA. 98 to remove a large object from the roadway. At the same time, a vehicle was traveling east on LA.98 and struck Darsey, authorities stated.
According to authorities, they said Darsey died at the scene and the driver was uninjured.
During the crash investigation, authorities said they observed no signs of impairment in the driver and after a breath sample the result showed the driver was under the legal limit.
This crash remains under investigation.
