Bosnian guard Harun Zrno re-opens recruitment after Indiana coaching change
By ADAM ZAGORIA
Bosnian guard Harun Zrno has re-opened his recruitment in the wake of the coaching change at Indiana, his agent told ZAGSBLOG.
Indiana this week named former West Virginia coach Darian DeVries as its new coach, replacing the outgoing Mike Woodson.
Miami and Maryland are now the frontrunners for 6-foot-7 sharpshooter, who in January chose the Hoosiers over Creighton, Wisconsin and Virginia.
The 6-foot-7, 20-year-old plays for Slavija Istocno Sarajevo in Bosnia’s Division I.
He’s averaging 17.5 points and 3.6 assists and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 56% from the field and 44% from deep.
As for what skilset he’ll bring to college, Zrno said: “Everyone is looking at me as a shooter but I bring a lot more than just shooting the ball. I like to play defense hard, attack off the dribble and find my teammates for easy plays. I learned how to play with the ball and I like having the ball in my hands. Anything to do in order for my team to win the games.”
Meantime, DeVries reached out to four-star Montverde (FL) Academy power forward Trent Sisley, who is expected to remain committed to Indiana.
“He did call Trent like 20 minutes after the announcement,” Matt Sisley, Trent’s father, told Inside the Hall. “He knew who he was. I think (Scott) Dolson had talked to him about Trent. So he was fully aware of Trent being committed.
“I don’t really know what was said in that conversation, I just know that Trent was really happy that he called that quick. And then I talked to coach (DeVries) last night for about 20 minutes and kind of introduced myself, my wife.”
Inside the Hall reported Matt Sisley and his wife, Heather, will travel to the school next week to meet with DeVries.
Sisley is averaging 10.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 18.5 minutes per game for Montverde, while shooting 64% from the field and 47% from deep.
