Troy man arrested for illegal loaded handgun
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A Troy man was arrested during a traffic stop Sunday after officers found an illegal loaded handgun in the car. Troy Police said Xzayvion Hay, 22, faces multiple charges.
According to the Troy Police, a traffic stop was conducted near Old 6th Avenue and Jacob Street around 5:30 p.m. During the traffic stop, Hay was found to have a suspended New York State License.
During the investigation, police located a stolen, loaded handgun in the car. He was arrested and the car was towed, police said.
Hay was charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree
- Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Uninspected Vehicle
- Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device
Hay was later arraigned in Troy City Court. Following his arraignment, he was remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail.
According to the police department, combating gun violence in Troy is a priority for the Mayor and the Troy Police Department. The police department said the patrol officers are tasked with responding to calls for service, but also to engage in policing efforts targeting the reduction of violent acts in the community.
