Cowboys in Third After Day One at NCAA Wrestling Championships
Oklahoma State had six wrestlers advance to the quarterfinals and are in third place in the team standings after one day at the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Philadelphia.
Penn State is the team leader with 39.5 points after going 20-0 in the first two rounds, with Nebraska in second place with 28 points and OSU with 27.
OSU had Troy Spratley at 125, Caleb Fish at 157, Cameron Amine at 165, Dean Hamiti at 174, Dustin Plott at 184, and heavyweight Wyatt Hendrickson all make the quarterfinals.
Hendrickson had two falls on Thursday.
Fish won his second round match in sudden victory overtime.
Oklahoma State had nine wrestlers to start the event, with two losing in the first round and one in the second round.
Oklahoma had all five wrestlers eliminated from title contention, with two advancing to the second round but losing.
The quarterfinals and semifinals are Friday, with the finals set for Saturday.
