Laverne Cox Dons Sharp Mugler Fang Mules and Archival Suit at Netflix’s “Hey Queen” Dinner
Laverne Cox got down to (fashion) business in Mugler and short red hair at Netflix’s Strong Black Lead dinner celebrating Uzo Aduba on Wednesday.
Cox styled her own head-turning look, selecting one of her “most beloved suits,” as she wrote on Instagram, from Mugler’s iconic fall 1998 “Lingerie Revisited” collection. The pinstripe suit features a knee length skirt with a high slit and flattering, feminine-tailored blazer, which she wore as a top and accented with a silver Alexander McQueen harness necklace. She also wore black mesh gloves and tights for added drama.
To complete the look, she reached for one of her favorite footwear choices, black leather Mugler Fang mules. The sleek Italian-made shoes take the pointed-toe trend to the next level, with a sharp toe and a 3.75-inch tapered stiletto heel that also extends a point off the back of the shoe. The sharp Fang mules also offer flat and kitten heel versions and a variety of colors and materials, including silver mesh.
The Fang series debuted in 2024 with current Mugler creative director Casey Cadwallader’s debut footwear collection for the French brand. The Fang series comes a wide variety of intriguing silhouettes, including pierced pumps, ankle and calf boots, and sleek pumps.
Cox is a big fan of Mugler and the Fang mules. She has worn the shoes on multiple occasions, including to promote her show “Clean Slate” in January and at the Mugler spring 2025 Paris runway show in September 2024, where Normani and Anitta also donned the edgy shoe.
Rhimes, Susan Kelechi Watson, Edwina Findley, Danielle Brooks, Natasha Lyonne, Laverne Cox, Yvonne Orji, Tabitha Brown, Amber Riley, Jurnee Smollett and others also attended the intimate Netflix dinner. The event was inspired by the streaming giant’s “Hey Queen” motivational video series and Strong Black Lead social media channels and took place at the elegantly carpeted Carondelet House in Los Angeles.
Cox and Aduba worked together on the beloved Netflix series “Orange Is The New Black,” and sparked reunion rumors when they posed with fellow co-stars Natasha Lyonne and Danielle Brooks at the event.
“The Residence” is the latest Shonda Rhimes-executive produced series, staring Aduba as an eccentric detective hoping to solve a murder mystery at the White House. The new show debuts on Netflix today.
