Panthers Defenseman Claims Brad Marchand’s Going To Be ‘Perfect’ Fit
Former Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand has been getting acclimated to his new team following the shocking trade to the Black and Gold’s playoff foe, the Florida Panthers.
Like most of the Black and Gold faithful, many of Marchand’s Florida teammates are getting used to seeing in him Panthers red.
“It was a little weird early on, to be honest, just seeing him in Panther gear and everything,” defenseman Gustav Forsling said on WQAM’s “Tobin and Leroy” show. “But, we had some battles throughout the years, but he’s super nice, to be honest.”
Forsling continued: “He’s fitting in perfectly. He’s such a nice guy. I think even his game on the ice is gonna be perfect for us. He’s got that skating ability to just stay on the D-men, and he’s going to be perfect for our forecheck. Super skilled, obviously, and can make some plays and score some big goals for us.”
While Leroy Hoard said he couldn’t wait to see the Panthers lineup when both Marchand and Matthew Tkachuk are healthy, Forsling added a different player he’s looking forward to seeing the ex-Bruins left wing skate with.
“Add Sam Bennett to that,” Forlsing said. “I wouldn’t want to play those guys.”
Tobin added Marchand and Bennett would be “the most hated line in hockey.”
Marchand is most likely still a couple of weeks from making his Panthers debut, per general manager Bill Zito, but has been skating with the team since joining them following the March 7 trade deadline.
