Columbia-Greene Humane Society surpasses heat pump fundraising goal
HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Earlier this month, the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA was seeking donations to replace one of the facility's heat pumps. On Monday, the organization announced they surpassed the $14,000 goal.
"We’re very happy to announce that we’ve surpassed our goal of $14,000 and can purchase the heat pump for our incoming dog wing, the organization stated.
"We'd especially like to thank the anonymous donor who made a substantial contribution of $14,000 to this cause. Your kindness is truly appreciated, and while we may not know who you are, please know that your contribution is making a difference," the statement continued.
According to the humane society, the broken heat pump, which is “beyond repair,” serves the shelter’s incoming dog wing. This area is where animals first enter into the building after being rescued or surrendered.
The unit will provide both heating and cooling, which will ensure that the dogs’ space is comfortable and safe.
According to the organization, all the excess donations will be used towards maintenance and for future repairs. "Every donation, no matter the size, is deeply appreciated, and we're grateful for everyone who contributed to our cause," the organization said.
The Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA is located at 111 Humane Society Road in Hudson. The facility is open Monday through Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sundays by appointment only.
