'Not sure where this is going!' Maria Bartiromo loses it at Trump secretary over tariffs
Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo lashed out at Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent over President Donald Trump's shifting excuses for using tariffs on U.S. trading partners.
During a Tuesday morning interview, Bartiromo pushed Bessent to explain whether Americans could expect to see up to 50% tariffs on some imported goods.
"In other words, if you've got 25% tariffs on aluminum and steel, and then you've got reciprocal tariffs coming, is that gonna be stacked on top of the 25% aluminum and steel?" she said. "That's what I'm trying to understand. Could it go as high as 50% for some countries?
"And what is the highest tariff that you're expecting on which country?"
For his part, Bessent claimed ignorance of "the numbers."

"See, these are the things that people are really worried about, because they first thought it was just about trade," Bartiromo lectured. "Then they thought it was just about fentanyl. Then after that, we talked about, well, maybe it's currency manipulation, and maybe it's now you're talking about food testing."
"And when I bring up the issue of clarity, that's what I'm talking about, and that's what I'm hearing from corporate America, that we're not sure where this is going!" the host added.
