Off the Beaten Path: Fort Orange General Store
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Fort Orange General Store is ushering in a new chapter! Last year, Erica Cubello and Joseph Slichko, two lifelong residents of the Capital Region, became the new owners of the gift and home goods shop in downtown Albany.
Cubello owns Seriously Spotless Green Cleaning Company and is an art teacher at Albany High School. Slichko is the principal of the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical Education Campus in Albany.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to own a store, especially in Albany," said Cubello. "Albany is my home city. I grew up here, went to school here, never left.”
From wall to wall, shoppers will find home goods and homemade gifts from local designers, artists, and small companies. Nipper-related items are some of their bestsellers, said Cubello.
The store is located at 412 Broadway in Albany. It is open Monday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
