Coronation Street star finally lands new TV job as she reunites with co-stars after being left ‘gutted & unemployed’
A CORONATION Street star has finally landed a new TV job after being unemployed for a short while.
Reuniting with two of her former soap co-stars to reveal her new acting role, Ellie Leach has left fans excited by seemingly sharing a subtle work update.
Ellie, 24, is best known for playing Faye Windass in ITV soap Coronation Street, as well as winning Strictly Come Dancing in 2023.
She played the role of Faye on the cobbles from 2011 until 2023, with her “gutted” when she left the cobbles almost two years ago.
But now Ellie has reunited with two of her former co-stars, who she will now join forces with once again as they work together on a Channel 5 show.
A snap of Ellie has been shared online with The Good Ship Murder stars Catherine Tydesley and Shayne Ward, as they filmed with the cast and crew of the show in Malta.
Catherine shared a snap of the cast and crew as they dined out last night in Malta, writing: “Strong lineup last night.”
Ellie could be seen in the snap, sparking speculation that she has joined the cast of the show.
She could be seen fourth back on the right side of table, with her seen smiling with the cast and crew of the show.
Meanwhile, Ellie also shared some snaps from Malta.
On Monday, the brunette beauty uploaded a snap of herself donning shorts and a cropped top with sunglasses concealing her eyes in a sunny location.
Nothing has been officially confirmed, but it’s looking hopeful that Ellie’s acting future is bright.
Back in April 2023, The Sun revealed how Ellie was leaving the show after 12 years.
At the time of the news she was leaving, an insider told us: “Ellie’s been on the soap since she was 10 years old so it’s all she’s known, she sees the cast like an extension of her family.
“She’s sad to be leaving, but grateful that her character won’t be killed off.
“She’s going to have a go at trying other acting roles for a bit.”
It was then revealed that Ellie resorted to flogging old clothes for £4 after revealing she’s “unemployed.”

ITV bosses are locked in a battle to save the cash-strapped soap.
This means that a number of stars have either been axed from or have abandoned the long-running serial drama.
Colson Smith – Craig Tinker
The character of Craig Tinker has been axed by bosses after 14 years. After he was told of the news in Autumn 2024, Colson Smith confirmed that would be written out of the show with scenes to air later this year. Craig’s on-screen mum, Beth Tinker, also left the show in the summer when actress Lisa George was written out from the role.
Sue Cleaver – Eileen Grimshaw
After 25 years playing Eileen Grimshaw, former I’m A Celebrity campmate Sue Cleaver will quit the show. The Sun on Sunday reported in January that she’s already begun to film her exit scenes. However the character will not be killed off in case Sue opts to make a return in the future.
Luca Toolan – Mason Radcliffe
Bosses decided to axe the teenage character after just 16 months after he first joined the show. Recent scenes saw Mason stabbed by his criminal brothers after his pal Dylan brought a knife in an attempt to defend him.
Sue Devaney – Debbie Webster
In November 2024, we revealed that Debbie Webster is set to be killed off after 40 years on the cobbles. The character will die as part of a heartbreaking long-running dementia storyline.
Charlotte Jordan – Daisy Midgeley
The actress became the fifth star to leave Coronation Street in just one month. We revealed that she will bow out of the ITV soap later this year after four years on-screen. Charlotte told sources that she’s hungry to see what other opportunities await.
Shelley King – Yasmeen Metcalfe
The actress has played Yasmeen Metcalfe on the cobbles for the past 11 years and we revealed in January that she finished filming her final scenes. This follows the departure of her on-screen partner Stu Carpenter.
Just last month, Ellie shared a snap to her Instagram account and penned: “Working lunch (we are booking a holiday),” with the snap being of her pal on a laptop.
The Manchester lass added: “She’s a student and I’m unemployed.”
In her next slide on her stories, she told her followers: “Selling some bits on my Vinted if anyone fancied having a look.”
Ellie was flogging PLT heels for just £8 and a green Little Mistress bodycon for £15, among over items.
