Royals steamroll Diamondbacks 12-1
Nice work, boys in blue
This just in: Bobby Witt Jr. is good at baseball.
Ok, it’s not “just in,” but nevertheless. In today’s Royals victory over the Diamondbacks, Kansas City triumphed with a score of 12-1. Witt was involved quite a bit. The best player in the American league notched three hits on the day, two of which were of the extra base variety. One was a home run.
Of particular note for the Royals was also Jonathan India. The Royals wanted to get a leadoff hitter with a high on base percentage, and India has done just that. He’s got a .371 batting average so far this spring and was 3-3 today. That’ll do!
Because we’re closer to the end of Spring Training, a lot of players got a solid amount of work in. All the starting position players got multiple plate appearances, and Seth Lugo went five innings. Lugo has been iffy this spring, but he was sharp today and with his five strikeouts he did not allow a run. Carlos Estevez gave up the lone Royals run today.
Would you believe it if I said there are 10 days until the start of the season? It’s true, which to me at least is wild. It helps that the season this year starts on March 27. Hold onto your butts though—late March in Kansas City could yield a nearly infinite array of weather conditions.
