Infant remains in critical condition after being mauled by pit bull

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Prairie Village Police Department says an infant is in critical condition after being mauled by a dog.
PVPD says on Thursday, Children's Mercy Hospital told them the infant was in critical condition. The responding officers concluded that the incident occurred early in the evening in the 4900 block of West 72nd Terrace.
Police also say the child was being cared for by a non-parent caregiver when it was attacked by a pit bull. That dog has since been seized and euthanized Friday.
Police claim there is no threat to the public at this time.
