Lucas Bergvall takes accountability as senior Tottenham stars stay quiet
Lucas Bergvall has taken to social media to make an admission to the fans about the team’s performance at Craven Cottage, and he also made a promise to the supporters.
The relationship between the first-team setup and Tottenham Hotspur fans is growing increasingly frosty as the club continues to struggle for consistency.
Ange Postecoglou angrily confronted a Spurs supporter after the final whistle at Craven Cottage, with Mathys Tel and Djed Spence having to pull him away.
This follows an incident two weeks ago where Guglielmo Vicario issued an apology to the Spurs fans after the Italian was criticised for the gestures, he made to the travelling supporters following the 1-0 loss at Alkmaar in the first leg.
Lucas Bergvall says Tottenham form is not good enough
Bergvall, who once again impressed after coming on at half-time at Craven Cottage, has now shown maturity beyond his years by sending a touching message to fans on social media.
The Swede admitted on his Instagram stories that he and his teammates know that their performance on Sunday was not good enough.
However, the 19-year-old promised the supporters that the team will bounce back when they return from the international break in two weeks.
Bergvall wrote: “We know that this is not good enough. We will come back stronger after the break. Thank you for the support as always.”
Fans need to get behind the Spurs team for the final run-in
The frustration of fans is understandable as it is simply unacceptable for a club with Tottenham’s resources to have a more than 50 per cent loss record in the Premier League.
However, unless the supporters get behind the team, Ange Postecoglou’s men have no chance of doing something special in the Europa League.
The jeering from the supporters and their angry reactions will only add to the pressure that the players and Postecoglou are under.
