3/17/2025: Cloudy, damp, breezy for St. Patrick's Day
The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:
A cold front brought heavy rain and gusty winds overnight - the steadiest has passed us by, but we are not quite done with the wet weather yet.
Light showers and slightly breezy conditions will linger through the early afternoon. Temperatures will be falling as the day progresses, down into the upper 30's or low 40's by sunset tonight.
Between the rain and melting snow (there are still feet of snow up at high elevations in the Adirondacks and Green Mountains), there is a flood concern - smaller rivers, creeks, and streams north of the Capital District could enter minor flood stage, rising just past their banks. A Flood Watch is in effect for areas highlighted in dark green below.
Tonight looks cool, with clearing skies and lows just below freezing in the Capital District. Some in the Adirondacks will dip down to around 20.
After the brisk start, mostly sunny skies help us warm quickly through the day. Expect afternoon highs to range from the low 50's up north to the low 60's in the Mid-Hudson valley.
Wednesday is even warmer - with highs in the upper 60's to near 70's! Our next storm system arrives Thursday afternoon and evening with another round of wind and rain. Temperatures fall into the 40's for Friday in the wake of that system.
The weekend looks lovely - perhaps not as warm as some of the days we've had as of late - but sunshine and highs in the low 50's will still make for a couple fantastic late-March days.
