Dry start to Monday in PDX, floods concerns remain in central and southern valley
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Below-normal daytime highs continue in Portland as we kick off this new week with highs only reaching into the low-50s.
It's a fairly mild start to the week around much of our region, especially considering all the mountain snow and Willamette Valley rain we saw this weekend. However, Portland could see an active afternoon of weather Monday with a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm across Northwest Oregon and into much of Western Washington.
Portland starts out with mainly dry skies on Monday before showers return in our afternoon hours.
And despite the mountain snow slowing as we start the week, there are still weather alerts in place across the PNW.
The central/southern Willamette Valley and central/southern Oregon coast is still under a Flood Watch through late Monday morning while Lane and Douglas counties are under a Flood Warning through Monday. This weekend, Eugene and Roseburg saw minor flooding in creeks and rivers. Roseburg totaled over three inches of rain on Saturday alone.
The NWS has also issued a Special Weather Statement for portions of the central and southern coast range and valley with a slight chance of snow showers until 8 a.m. Monday. This includes Junction City, Springfield and Eugene. However, with this possible snow, it does not look to stick to roadways. Travelers are advised of lower visibility though and give themselves extra time in the morning.
