Sources close to Andoni Iraola reveal his thoughts about Tottenham Hotspur
A fresh report has revealed how close Ange Postecoglou is to being sacked and whether Andoni Iraola would be interested in taking over at Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.
Following Tottenham’s defeat to Fulham on Sunday, some pundits have said that Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs job is hanging by a thread, which is hard to argue with given the Lilywhites’ terrible Premier League record this season.
It has been reported over recent days that Tottenham have already contacted Andoni Iraola about replacing Postecoglou at the end of the season.
Now a fresh update has revealed whether the Bournemouth boss is a realistic target for the North London club.
Andoni Iraola is open to the idea of joining Tottenham
The Telegraph have now revealed that while Tottenham Hotspur do not have immediate plans of sacking Postecoglou, success in the Europa League is seen as critical for the Australian’s long-term job prospects.
The report confirms that Iraola is one of the names at the top of Spurs’ wishlist should they decide to part ways with the 59-year-old.
It is explained that the Spaniard’s contract runs until 2026, and Bournemouth are determined to keep hold of him and are expected to have a discussion with the head coach next month.
However, the publication adds that sources close to Iraola’s camp have indicated that he would be interested in the prospect of taking over at Spurs.
Marco Silva is also on Spurs’ managerial radar
The Telegraph say that Fulham’s Marco Silva is alongside Andoni Iraola on Tottenham’s shortlist, with the Lilywhites admiring the work he has done at Fulham.
It is explained that despite the Portuguese coach’s impressive record at Craven Cottage, his future at the club remains in doubt.
Silva’s contract at Fulham has a £6m release clause, but it is unclear at the moment if the West London club will demand that the full clause be met if Tottenham come calling for their head coach.
