The PL's bottom 3 (27 replies)
Ipswich and Southampton seem to offer some sort of attacking fight but are both abysmal at the back and Leicester are simply terrible everywhere. All three teams seem like a guaranteed 3pts for everyone baring each other.
I was looking at their transfer spend this season and surprisingly Ipswich have the highest net spend in the league with £126m! That's not far off Forest's 22/23 £160m spend. Should McKenna be doing better? Southampton have the 6th highest net spend with £67m but £109m overall and then Leicester are 7th with £52m net and £82m overall. Leiecester's spending looks fairly modest but at over £100m, both Ipswich and Southampton have certainly "had a go".
What, if anything, do you think this means for Championship teams going forward?
I heard an interesting remark from a journalist the other day: Each season, the established 17 PL clubs stay up, get financially stronger and pull further away, making it harder for the next three promoted clubs to survive.
