Gemma Owen fans baffled as Love Island star debuts ‘new posh voice’ in an interview at the races
GEMMA Owen has left fans scratching their heads after over her ‘new posh’ accent at the horse racing.
The Love Island star, who was born and raised in Chester, was caught speaking on camera at Cheltenham Racecourse.
But after the video was shared on TikTok, fans were baffled.
In the clip, 21-year-old Gemma was quick to gush about her designer outfit to an official Cheltenham pundit.
Confirming she was wearing Holland Cooper, she said: “Everyone is in Holland Cooper. It’s just… everyone is in Holland Cooper at Cheltenham. It’s got Cheltenham all over it!”
Gemma was also asked if her famous dad, retired England footballer Michael Owen, had given her any tips for the races.
But the star, who is a professional dressage rider, admitted she was “not listening” to her father anymore after he previously gave her a few tips on horses that didn’t come in.
Gemma added: “I’m just going to go on colours and names. That normally works better.”
Commenting on the video, which was posted by the official Cheltenham Racecourse account, one fan said: “She talks so much more posher than love Island.”
Another added: “So well spoken, classy and elegant.”
And a third even quipped: “If you’re not in HC… you don’t qualify to be at Cheltenham.”
Gemma appeared in the 2022 series of Love Island and coupled up with Luca Bish.
The pair made it to the final of the ITV2 reality show and finished in second place, with Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti taking the win.
However, by the end of the year, Gemma confirmed on Instagram that she and Luca had split.
The pair were living 200 miles apart at the time, with Luca based in Brighton and Gemma in north Wales.
She told fans: “I wanted to let you know that Luca and I are no longer in a relationship. It wasn’t an easy decision but ultimately this is what is best for both of us right now.
“Many of you have been on this journey with us from the beginning and I want to thank you for your continued support as a new chapter starts.”
Although she has been linked to several potential suitors since, Gemma has continued to remain tight-lipped on her relationship status.
Luca, meanwhile, is now in a relationship with Grace Jackson after a successful stint on Love Island All Stars in South Africa this year.
However, before he entered the villa for a second time, Luca admitted he would quit the show if Gemma turned up as a bombshell.
“If Gemma walks back in… I’d walk out,” Luca said to The Sun. “I’d probably say ‘I’m a Love Islander, Get Me Out’.”
Luca has since been accused of rehashing the ‘girlfriend’ proposal he made to Gemma with Grace.
