Police: Child dead after traffic incident in east Columbus
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- A child is dead after police responded to a traffic incident on Columbus’ east side Sunday afternoon.
According to a Columbus police dispatcher, officers responded to a pedestrian struck call in the area of East 5th and St. Clair avenues just before 3:30 p.m. At the scene, officers found an injured child.
The child was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead.
Dispatchers did not know how the child was injured, saying only that the incident involved a car.
