Chappell Roan’s country track The Giver set to debut at No1 as she unveils shock new musical direction
CHAPPELL ROAN looks set to replace herself at No1 this Friday.
The Hot To Go singer is on track to top the UK chart with her new country single The Giver.
The Official Chart update has revealed the track, which is already a favourite with Howell, will knock Chappell’s hit single Pink Pony Club down to No3.
Meanwhile, Alex Warren’s Ordinary looks set to hold strong at No2.
Despite Chappell’s dabble into country, she insists she’s not going to be following in Beyonce’s footsteps and recording a full country album.
She told Apple Music: “I wanted to write a country song, ‘cos I just thought it would be funny. It’s campy and it’s fun.
“I’m from south-west Missouri. I grew up on Christian and country, and then found Alejandro by Lady Gaga and I was like, ‘I think I like this too.’
“I really just did this for fun. I’m not switching genres or anything. It’s not for forever.”

AUSSIE rapper Iggy Azalea has accused Universal Music of failing to pay her any royalties.
The Work hitmaker took to Twitter to launch a long rant at her former record label.
Iggy fumed: ‘Crazy how in my entire career I was never paid a single royalty by universal music for anything outside of the USA.
“They owe me millions of dollars in back pay, that they technically stole from me, as per my contract I am due payment.
“The amount owed is in the 8 figure range. Last week they tried to respond to my lawyer and offer me a settlement of 18k.
“I’m told this is a normal response from their lawyers and after appearing in court they end up paying millions as they’re supposed to.”
The four time Grammy nominee added: “’I’d like to publicly say that I think universal music are criminals who actively take advantage of ALL of their artists in perpetuity for their own gain.”
