31 Houthi militants killed following Trump’s order
Following an order from U.S. President Donald Trump to attack Yemen’s Houthi fighters, at least 31 members of the group have been killed. The directive came after an attack by the Houthis in the Red Sea.
Reuters reported on Sunday, March 16, that Trump issued the command in response to the attack, signaling a major escalation in the conflict.
The Houthis, who are considered an ally of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, have been a point of tension in the region. Trump has urged Iran to cease its support for the Houthi group, calling for an end to their backing. Despite these accusations, Major General Hossein Salami, the senior commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, stated that the Houthis are independent and not controlled by any outside forces.
On his social media platform, X, Trump wrote, “To all Houthi terrorists, your time is up, and your attacks must stop today. If you do not comply, hell will descend upon you.” In response, the Houthis issued a statement saying they are ready to respond to any retaliatory actions.
Over the past decade, the Houthis, a militant movement, have gradually taken control of most of Yemen, intensifying the ongoing conflict in the region.
The situation between the U.S., Iran, and the Houthis continues to escalate, with significant implications for regional stability. The threat of further violence and retaliation remains high, as all parties involved stand firm in their positions.
