NYC Half Marathon kicks off in Brooklyn and heads to Central Park
NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Thousands of runners and onlookers will flood the streets on Sunday for the annual United Airlines NYC Half Marathon.
Runners took off from Prospect Park in Brooklyn at 7 a.m. and made their way to Central Park in Manhattan. The 13.1-mile journey takes participants over the Brooklyn Bridge, along the FDR Drive, and through Times Square.
Loved ones and on-lookers can track runners on their route using a new beta app that replaced the previous TCS New York City Marathon app.
For those heading into the city for non-marathon-related activities, there are multiple road closures throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan.
A course map also shows the route runners are expected to take on Sunday.
