Deadly explosion kills 5, injures 13 in Balochistan, Pakistan
An explosion in the Balochistan province of Pakistan killed five people and left 13 others injured. Authorities have reported that the condition of two of the injured individuals is critical.
Pakistani media reported on Sunday, March 16, that the blast occurred near a passenger bus on the Nushki-Dalbandin highway, killing at least five and injuring 13. Rescue teams have transferred the wounded to a hospital, and some sources indicate that the death toll may rise.
Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and began investigations to identify the perpetrators of the attack. However, no group has claimed responsibility for the explosion so far. Some reports suggest that some of the victims may have been members of Pakistan’s security forces.
Balochistan has long been a region plagued by instability and armed attacks. Baloch separatist groups, including the Baloch Liberation Army, have been active in the region, targeting the central government of Pakistan. This explosion comes after a similar incident in which 31 people, including 23 soldiers, were killed in a hostage situation on a train in Balochistan.
The Express Tribune newspaper recently published an article accusing the Taliban of conspiring with India to undermine Pakistan’s security. The article linked the deadly train attack in Balochistan to the Taliban’s involvement in India’s plan to legitimize Baloch separatists.
In the piece titled “Kabul-Delhi Alliance,” the newspaper stated that it is no secret that Afghanistan and India are working together to destabilize Pakistan. The publication, which is closely aligned with the Pakistani military, described the Balochistan train attack as an “intelligence failure” and urged Islamabad to expose the open collaboration between the Taliban and India in diplomatic forums.
Both the Taliban and India have denied the allegations, calling them baseless and rejecting any involvement in destabilizing Pakistan.
The continued violence in Balochistan highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by the province. Authorities are under pressure to tackle the growing insurgency and improve the security situation in the region, but the efforts have faced significant obstacles due to the complex nature of the conflict.
