Hot one coming up and no waves
Hello Friends,
At 0830 the wind was coming from the north at 8-11 kts under mostly cloudy skies. The air temperature was nearly 27 C and the Bureau says it will reach 37 C by this afternoon. At 0600 the MHL buoy was seeing a metre of 11-second SSE swell, but as the pictures show, it wasn’t obvious at Dee Why. Conditions were essentially flat and they’re set to remain that way until tomorrow morning when a significant SE swell arrives and rapidly builds to heights at sea of 2-4 metres along with average periods in the 9+ second range. The wind will be 20-30 kts from the south, so surf options will be limited to very protected south corners.
On Tuesday the wind is predicted to have decreased and is expected to swing to the NE as the day goes along. The swell will fade a little but should still be solid through Tuesday and maybe even be surfable into Wednesday.
Have a top old Sunday and stay cool!
Weather Situation
Currently, a high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge over the New South Wales coast. A cold front and associated trough is forecast to cross the New South Wales coast later today and during Monday, bringing a cool and gusty southerly change. The front will be replaced by a new high pressure ridge extending from a high over the Bight, which will slowly move eastwards over the Tasman Sea through the midweek.
