BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Rasmus Dahlin scored the tying goal with 13.6 seconds left in the third period and the Sabres got shootout goals from Alex Tuch and Jack Quinn to beat the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 on Saturday at KeyBank Center.
Former Sabres captain Jack Eichel, booed every time he touched the puck, punched in a go-ahead goal with 2:23 remaining in the third period. But in overtime Eichel got stopped at the doorstep by Sabres goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen (16 saves) and rang a shot off the post. Luukkonen also made a save against Eichel in the shootout.
Dahlin's game-saving goal came on a blistering one-timer fed by Bowen Byram at the blue line with Luukkonen out of the net for a sixth skater. It was Dahlin's 12th goal of the season.
Ryan McLeod scored a goal and set up Jason Zucker on a power play early in the third period.
Ex-Sabre Victor Olofsson had the only goal for Vegas in the shootout, and Brett Howden and Pavel Dorofeyev scored in regulation. Aidan Hill made 33 saves as the Sabres out-shot the Golden Knights 37-19.
