Glass panels falling downtown prompt street closure
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Glass panels falling from a building downtown have closed the intersection of West 6th Street and Guadalupe Street.
The Austin Fire Department in a social media post said that glass panels were falling off a high-rise building that is currently under construction.
It's unknown why the panels were falling, but KXAN spotted a few windows with missing panels.
"What the heck is going on?" said Colton Gentry, who was walking by. "We were kind of worried that people were walking their dogs out here and you never know when some glass could hit somebody."
Fire crews and police told people to avoid the area as building personnel attempt remediation.
There is no estimated time of when the repairs will be finished. The street remains closed, according to authorities.
