OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Dry conditions mixed with powerful winds set parts of Oklahoma ablaze on Friday, as dangerous wildfires caused widespread damage and forced many Oklahomans to evacuate.
The Director of Oklahoma Emergency Management, Annie Mack Vest, said fires are still smoldering across the state and teams are currently performing search and rescue.
Stitt said he received a report Friday night that about 293 homes and structures were destroyed. Mack followed up with the latest reports as of Saturday morning, saying over 200 homes were lost from the fires.
Several fires are still burning throughout the state Saturday, with some evacuation orders ongoing.
McIntyre Law Chopper 4 flew over much of the areas that were devastated by the wildfires, with some fires that can be seen still burning.
