MMO Roundtable: Our 2025 Mets Hot Take
The 2025 season is almost here and we’re excited. We’re so excited for it that we have some hot takes to share with you all. Here are our boldest thoughts on the 2025 season. Who knows, maybe a couple will actually happen. Ya gotta believe, right?

Brett Baty breaks out in his new role and replaces Jeff McNeil as the starting second baseman come October. Mark Vientos had his breakthrough in 2024. Who’s to say Baty can’t be the next? After a handful of ups and downs to start his big league career, this is the year it changes.

This one will be short and sweet: Juan Soto World Series MVP.

Juan Soto homers at Yankee Stadium. He will become the first Met to homer there for 15 consecutive years.
Andrew Steele-Davis
The rotation struggles but big time production from the top of the lineup makes up for it. However, at the trade deadline, the Mets go out and acquire Dylan Cease and he proves to be the missing piece needed for another deep postseason run. Also, Jeff McNeil and Starling Marte won’t be in Queens by the time a World Series winner is crowned.

Pete Alonso puts up numbers that seal his fate as a Met for life.

Mets version: Mark Vientos hits 45 homers
NL East version: Braves finish below the Nationals
Mojo Hill
Kodai Senga wins the Cy Young and even gets MVP votes.
James Villani
Clay Holmes not only leads Mets pitchers in fWAR, but also finishes top-12 in the NL.

My hot take is that Brandon Nimmo hits 30 homers and drives in over 100 runs. I truly believe that as long as he stays healthy, Nimmo is going to thrive hitting in the middle of the lineup.
Jack Ramsey
Clay Holmes doesn’t do anything bad once.
Dilip Sridhar
I’ll be a little bold and say Max Kranick will be their eighth-inning man by Memorial Day and the most trusted reliever by the end of the season.

TRS – Jose Siri and Tyrone Taylor form a CF tandem that nets 5 FWAR between the two, making the Mets OF the highest FWAR OF in baseball.
Michael Lloyd – This Mets team will obliterate the Mets team HR record.
Patrick – My hot take is that McNeil continues his success in the 2nd half of last year into the new season and gets back to the hitter he was that got him to the show and just trying to hit the ball hard. (Made before McNeil’s injury).
