Warm and very breezy today, elevated risk for severe weather Saturday
Milder and foggy conditions are kicking off your Friday in Acadiana. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 8:00 am. Spring-like temps and very breezy weather is expected for the afternoon as highs return to the lower 80s. Southerly winds could gust over 30 mph at times today. Isolated showers and storms are possible too, there is a very low risk for severe weather today.
The atmospheric setup on Saturday morning will be supportive for severe weather in Acadiana but the hi-resolution models are showing an absence of thunderstorm activity to tap into the volatile atmosphere. We are still expecting showers and storms on Saturday and an elevated risk for severe storms but the forecast is still being tweaked. Damaging winds, strong tornadoes, and large are all threats for the area.
The storms that develop over Acadiana Saturday will reach their full protentional across Mississippi and Alabama later in the day as a tornado outbreak could occur.
