Topekan wins bronze at World Special Olympics
TOPEKA (KSNT) - A Topeka native is coming home with a podium finish after competing in the World Special Olympics in Turin, Italy.
According to a spokesperson from Special Olympics Kansas (SOKS) , Bekah Henderson will be bringing home a bronze medal for her performance in the snowshoeing 50m. Henderson was one of five athletes and one coach representing SOKS in two sports, snowshoeing and alpine skiing.
This year, Special Olympics USA sent a 160-member delegation to represent the country in Turin.
"I am incredibly honored to attend as a coach alongside five outstanding Kansas athletes,” said John Lair, CEO and President of SOKS. “This is more than just a competition—it's a celebration of determination from these athletes and the limitless potential that lies within each of us. I’m so excited to support them as they take on the world stage, and cheer them on through this entire experience. I encourage everyone to as well.”
