Portland weekend events, from Kell’s Irish Festival to the Shamrock Run
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — With St. Patrick's Day on March 17, Portland will offer events abound this week.
Whether or not you're planning to celebrate the holiday, here is a list of festivities through Sunday.
Dance Yourself Clean - An Indie Electronic Dance Party
When: Friday, March 14 at 9 p.m.
Where: Holocene, 1001 SE Morrison St, Portland, OR 97214
Concert venue and nightclub Holocene hosts Dance Yourself Clean, a party with indie and electronic music, the second Friday of each month. Organizers say the event features “a festival feel, stage production, lasers and way too much fog.”
Bryan Callen
When: Friday, March 14 at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m., Saturday, March 15 at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Where: Helium Comedy Club, 1510 SE 9th Ave, Portland, OR 97214
Best known as Coach Rick Mellor in “The Goldbergs,” multi-hyphenate Bryan Callen is headlining his own comedy show. The actor and comic also co-hosts “The Fighter and the Kid” podcast.
Portland Roadster Show
When: Friday, March 14 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, March 15 from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 16 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: Portland Expo Center, 2060 N Marine Dr, Portland, OR 97217
The annual Portland Roadster Show “showcases some of the most stunning custom cars, hot rods, and classics from across the country.” General admission tickets to see the show along with all of its exhibitors and vendors cost $20.
Kell’s Portland Irish Festival
When: Friday, March 14 through Monday, March 17 at multiple times
Where: Multiple locations
Through St. Patrick’s Day on Monday, Kell’s Portland Irish Festival will honor the holiday with several activities including concerts, amateur boxing and Irish dancing. The Portland Bureau of Transportation is offering discounted rides to help partygoers stay safe throughout the weekend.
Frankenstein’s Comic Book Swap
When: Saturday, March 15 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Where: Lloyd Center, 2201 Lloyd Center, Portland, OR 97232
Browse 125 tables of comic books, toys, posters and more in the Lloyd Center. Entry will cost $5 at 11 a.m. and $1 at 12 p.m. Children and seniors get in free.
Shamrock Run Fest
When: Sunday, March 16 at multiple times
Where: Tom McCall Waterfront Park, 98 SW Naito Pkwy, Portland, OR 97204
Shamrock Run Fest participants can choose from several distances, ranging from the 4-mile stride walk to the 13.1-mile half marathon. Attendees can then enjoy the “Finish Line Festival” featuring a beer garden and live music.
Smallpresspalooza
When: Sunday, March 16 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Powell’s City of Books, 1005 W Burnside St, Portland, OR 97209
The world’s largest independent bookstore will mark Small Press Month with Smallpresspalooza, an annual celebration of independent writers. More than 10 authors will read excerpts of their work throughout the four-hour event.
