PHOTOS: Michelle Obama records new podcast in front of hundreds of SXSW attendees
AUSTIN (KXAN) – Michelle Obama and her brother, Craig Robinson, on Thursday gave South by Southwest attendees a glimpse of their new podcast, IMO – internet slang for “in my opinion.”
The siblings sat down with Laurie Santos, a psychology professor and host of The Happiness Lab, for a special live taping of their new podcast, which started releasing episodes this week.
People were eager to witness the former First Lady’s venture into podcasting, with many fans lined up outside the Austin Convention Center hours before her 1 p.m. appearance.
“Michelle Obama has long been an inspiration to us at SXSW and to millions of people around the world," said Hugh Forrest, SXSW President and Chief Programming Officer, in a press release.
“Her belief that we lift each other up by sharing our stories with one another is a core part of the SXSW experience and a key catalyst in helping creative people achieve their goals. It is the ultimate honor and an incredible thrill to welcome Michelle and her brother, Craig Robinson, to the 2025 event,” he continued.
