Three savvy ways to save on visits to top attractions with the family
HEADING for a day out at top attractions can be pricey.
But there are ways to keep the costs down for your trip.
Try these tips for family fun with less financial pain.
NATIONAL LOTTERY OPEN WEEK: From tomorrow until Sunday March 23, Lottery players can unlock free and discounted entry at hundreds of Lottery-funded venues and attractions across the country.
The Eden Project in Cornwall, Dover Castle and the Glasgow Science Centre are among the sites taking part.
Any valid National Lottery ticket, scratchcard or instant win game can be used.
And you can find all venues taking part — just search by postcode at nationallotteryopenweek.com.
LOYALTY PAYS: If you shop at Tesco, get more value out of Clubcard points by spending them on days out.
Clubcard vouchers are created from shopping points which can be spent in-store or online at Tesco for face value, but with a reward partner, the value doubles.
It means a £2.50 voucher can be used to spend £5 on tickets for a day out. Thorpe Park, Cadbury World and Colchester Zoo are among the attractions that accept the vouchers.
There are more than 100 partners and you can see the full list and make bookings with vouchers online or through the Clubcard app.
FRINGE BENEFITS: If you claim universal credit or other selected benefits such as pension credit, there are many attractions that offer free or discounted admission for as little as £1.
Edinburgh, London and Whipsnade Zoo, RHS gardens and the Eden Project are among the venues that offer this subsidy.
Just bear in mind that you will often have to book online and in advance to get these specially discounted tickets and will require evidence of your benefits claims.
In some cases, you can take up to six people from your household and only one person needs to show supporting documents.
