Wynne Evans’ Strictly partner Katya Jones breaks silence on his tour exit after he reveals he’s taking time out
KATYA Jones has broken her silence on Strictly partner Wynne Evans’ tour exit.
The Go Compare opera singer was axed from the tour after he joked about having a threesome with professional dancer and tour host Janette Manrara, 41, during a full cast photocall.
He was heard using the demeaning term “spit roast” in reference to a lewd sexual act.
Taking to her Instagram stories, Katya wrote: “Let’s show humanity and consideration. I will miss you my darling boy.”
Wynne and Katya, 35, danced together on Strictly for nine weeks before being eliminated in Blackpool.
Meanwhile, Wynne himself addressed the situation earlier this evening.
He said: “I’ve agreed with the BBC that l’ll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing.
“I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection.
“Apologies to those I won’t get to see at the remaining performances and I’m grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.”
Per insiders, this incident followed “repeated warnings about his behaviour” prompting show bosses to remove Wynne from the tour.
Meanwhile, The Sun told how the singer is now fighting to save his career over the crude “gags”.
He risks losing his six figure salary as the face of Go Compare ads – which made his name.
It comes as it was revealed the tenor, who turned 53 on Monday, has also split with his girlfriend over his lewd behaviour.
A Beeb insider said last night: “It’s been an incredibly difficult situation for all concerned.
“The BBC are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. But in this day and age, it felt untenable to keep Wynne on the tour.
“It was detracting from what is otherwise a family-friendly show. He had been warned repeatedly about his language, but the inappropriate remarks kept coming.
“And once one was captured on video, there was no going back.
“He is a man of a certain age, and it’s fair to say his puerile remarks — while funny to him and perhaps other men of a certain age — wore thin.”
