Hugh Jackman's 'Dream' About Future Friendship With Deborra-Lee Furness Doesn't Sound Easy
Hugh Jackman apparently wants the best of both worlds in his split with Deborra-Lee Furness and his new relationship with Sutton Foster. But it’s not going to be an easy path to take given the rumors about his alleged affair with his Broadway co-star while they worked together in The Music Man.
Jackman is reportedly thinking of what his “dream blended family” would look like with Furness and Foster’s ex-husband Ted Griffin in the mix.
“Hugh still has a lot of love for Deb. He had three decades with her and doesn’t want to lose her as a friend so he’s ready and willing to do whatever he can to make peace and create a new chapter of their relationship,” a Closer Weekly insider claimed. That might sound like a healthy way to move forward with co-parenting — he shares son Oscar, 23, and daughter Ava, 19 with Furness, and Foster has a seven-year-old daughter, Emily, with Griffin, but is it realistic?
“Hugh very much wants to have Deb as a part of his life, not just for his sake but for his kids as well,” they added. His ideal scenario would be “doing family holidays” together, but “it’s just a matter of Deb being comfortable with it.” Who could blame Furness for possibly hating this idea? She reportedly tried to get answers from Jackman for the challenges in their 27-year marriage, but he stonewalled her, per Us Weekly.
“Deborra-Lee was blindsided when she found out about the affair through the run of the show,” a theater insider told the media outlet. “It was apparently Broadway’s worst-kept secret, and Deborra-Lee was the last to know.” Jackman probably wants to look like the good guy in this situation by trying to smooth over the hurt feelings, but he and Furness have reportedly not reached a divorce settlement over their $150 million fortune with no prenuptial agreement in place.
Furness has been living her best life in Australia lately, enjoying the 2025 Australian Open with her daughter, but it’s hard for her to avoid the news about her ex-husband and Foster. The duo confirmed their relationship in early January with a “paparazzi walk” in Santa Monica and a moment of PDA at the In-N-Out drive-thru line.
It’s going to take some time to work things out and perhaps, in the distant future, everyone will be able to come together and celebrate those family milestones. But for now, it’s better to mend those broken hearts.
